I am a small game developer, I just started my journey. I began to work on a game which is named exactly the same as your project - 'Fake Moon'. I haven't realized that a game with this name already exists until now. My question is: could I use this name for my game which I will publish and sell on Steam? Is this name trademarked? I kindly ask for response.
Hi! The game name is not trademarked and you may use it with my blessing. In return, I will ask that you include the words “Moon Base Akzidenz” somewhere in your game. Good deal?
Thank you so much! What about me putting an easter egg in the game? I think that would be cool as well. Also, could you unblock me on Discord? I think there was an misunderstanding which led you to block me. I would like to ask you a few questions.
Ah, that is the same in the downloadable version. This game was made for a game jam where the games can’t be longer than 20 Seconds. I may come back to it one day and make a longer version.
You did a great job capturing the simple mechanics of a handheld game! I love the artwork for the landers and the moons. I thought I had to click the buttons at first but using the keyboard is much easier. It's a bit too quick for me, but I like the aesthetic of it!
Thanks BubblyOasis! At first the buttons were only for show but I figured I had to make them work because everyone would try to click on them first.
It's quick, I know. The 20 second limitation doesn't really let you have much progression of difficulty and I wanted to make it challenging enough to keep you busy for more than a couple of minutes. I may make a full version that starts off easy and gets progressively more difficult.
It took me a while to get the hang of it but I eventually got it. It's quite challenging for me to remember which one is going to land first depending on the sequence, so I guess an easier mode would be is one where a color indicator for the one/s landing first could be added. I did have fun, though - I like that the moon responds well and quickly to my keyboard presses, and there is no lag time like in older games so I can catch the landers even if they land within just a few moments from each other.
Really nice. Maybe the speed isn't the issue. With a bit more space and maybe some visual signaling one could better see which lander is coming in first. I noticed that they never really land together but the span of time between lane switch and input is finicky.
Thanks for the comment! You are correct that no two landers ever reach the end of the column at the same time. This is based (as faithfully as I could make it) on an old Nintendo handheld game called Parachute. In the original, the action starts slow and speeds up so you have a chance to learn the quirks of the game before it becomes ridiculously fast. In 20 seconds, that’s not possible so I tried for a fixed speed that would be challenging but achievable with a little practice. I may get around to implementing the full version when other projects permit it.
Very cool looking, the game moves a bit fast, to many times there were two landers that were landing at the same time so it made it tough to get either one. or i would get one on the left side only to have one on right land at the next tick so i had no time to make it over to it.
Maybe I could have made it a little easier. When I spend a lot of time play testing, it’s easy to think the game is less hard than it should be. Having said that, it is totally winnable because if I can win it, most everybody can with a little practice :D

Hello!

Have a good day, keyshujin.

Even better: “Akzidenz is a steely-eyed missile man”
That can work too!
Nice game, good graphics. Too bad the online version is quite limited.
Thanks Flyzy. What problem did you have with the online version?
No problem with the game itself, just too bad it only lasts 20 seconds and no points are given.

That would be nice, maybe add a points count too ;) . Looking foreward to it.
Shared it on my game page, hope you don't mind.
Not at all, Very happy to be part of such a fine collection!
Something about this game reminds me of something from my childhood. The memory is too faint to remember exactly what.
Maybe you had the pleasure of playing a game like this one (my inspiration)
I think it must have been some form of handheld like that. It feels very familiar though I never had a game & watch.

Reminds me of those little games you could get from mcdonald's when I was a kid, lol. very charming and fun once you figure out how to play :)
Thanks captainsplat! Glad you enjoyed it.
Really subtle speed difference with the difference lengths of track
Yes! It takes a few goes to be able to predict which one will land first.

Thanks Davidaika! I appreciate the feedback.

I adore the aesthetic, though. Great job.

The speed has been slightly lowered, Matt.
